We've moved to a bigger and better data center!

Beginning May 12, 2009,  KAINOS Health and KAINOS Medical Clinics (in coordination with our technology provider - SyncMed
Solutions
) has adopted a new technology infrastructure to better provide portable and highly available information services to it's
clients.

Our new data center is now privately housed and managed in Kansas City, USA and are professionally managed by data center engineers to give our clients fast and uninterrupted service.

So what does this all mean to end users like health care providers and members? Here are some of the many benefits and
advantages of our new technology setup:
  • 99.99% Uptime Guaranteed - With redundant arrays of storage drives, power supplies, and network infrastructures; this guarantees our online service to be highly available even during extended hours of power outage.
  • Stable and Fast Online Service - All data has a new home in a customized and rock-solid operating system that provides extreme stability and uniform speed across networks.
  • Secure and Portable - Since our service is available online, we bring our service closer to our members and providers alike without compromising confidential medical data. With security always in mind, we made sure to protect all possible loopholes to give our subscribers a peace of mind and a sense of security.
  • Highly Scalable - Our online services can easily scale-up to sudden surges in demand without causing any delay in service. This means that we can accommodate immediate and simultaneous access u to several thousand connections with no delays.
Take a brief walk on different facilities of our remote data center and learn more about them.

The Server Rooms
The server room is the heart of the data center and provide security, power, cooling and fire
protection. An access system only grants access to people on a need-to-have basis, after
proper authentication. Feeds from several UPS systems provide stable, reliable power and a
4-feet high raised floor provides ample and unobstraucted space for cold air from up to 9 CRAC
(Computer Room Air Conditioning) systems.
The Network Rooms
Two separate rooms provide secure space for redundant routing systems of different SyncMed
subscribers that constantly transport data back and forth between our servers and our high
speed internet connection. Data streams between servers connected to our network and is
protected from external intrusions by redundant firewall systems.
The Electrical Rooms
These rooms house the power distribution infrastructure, transformers, automatic transfer
switches and UPS systems. The UPS is connected to battery power banks which are housed
in dedicated room. Static switches are used to switch to a redundant UPS in case of failure of
the regular UPS.
The Battery Rooms
Each electrical room contains a battery room that provides protection and an adequate
environment (e.g. cooling, air exchange) for the battery power banks.
The Generator Area
Initially, 2 generator systems supply power to each data center in case of the outage of the utility power supply. Two (2) independent ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches) systems constantly monitor the utility feeds and automatically start generators in case of such an outage. Three (3) additional generator systems are planned for the future as the power demand rises in the data center.
The Pump Rooms
These rooms contain the mechanical systems (e.g. secondary pumps, variable requency
drives) connecting the outside cooling infrastructure with the pipe system and CRAC units
inside the data center.

A state-of-the-art fire detection and prevention systems are also housed here. These
systems include: a very early smoke detection system, an FE-25 gas-type extinguishing
system, and a trouble interlock pre-action sprinkler system.
The Chiller Area
Three (3) redundant chiller plants provide a continuous flow of chilled water/glycol mixture
to CRAC units inside the data center. Each plant has its own set of pipes and own set of
primary and secondary pumps so that a failure in one plant cannot affect the others. if necessary,
the initial 400 ton capacity of each plant can be doubled by adding a second chiller per plant.
